It is December 2019 and we have finished our life drawing classes for the semester. here is ALL the life drawing work i have done compiled into one blog post.

The works of the first couple of weeks, only trying to figure out the shape of the body. Didn't keep track of time for each drawing at this point yet.

Moving further, figuring out how the weight of the figure shifts in movement, how it interacts with objects.

Here trying to figure out movement. The slide should work, figuring this out still.

More detailed attention to detail, really trying to wrap my head around how to show that the hand is making contact with the object.

Showing emotion through poses. different expressions, very easy-to-read body language.

Different poses again. Just to summarize my experience with life drawing, i want to make a moment to reflect. I had not done life drawing before coming to university, not this focused. We had done exercises where we draw each other at art school, and of course, still life drawing as well. In the first couple of sessions I only drew the figure as i went, which caused some jittery proportions, I also only use my two pencils throughout the semester which makes it most comfortable for me. A4 sketchbook as well as a A3 sketchbook later on. As the sessions went on and we did more exercises which force you to use simpler shapes just to get the weight and the shape of the figure down, i started to use the same method in longer drawings as well, using simple shapes to plan out where which body part goes, to get the proportions right before focusing on any detail. Going forward, i will probably return to using an artists dummy to get the general proportions right, as well as using photographic references for faces, hands, feet. If I ever get the opportunity I also want to draw my younger brother, I am sure he would love to model for me. This whole experience has been very good for me, I feel like i have improved from when I first started at the start of the year. I enjoyed the classes a lot, this entire thing has made me feel like I am doing something to improve my skills and doing something with my life and career. This is going to be the last university life drawing post, at least for a long while. Thank you.
